at least the first one had a cheese factor
So, I managed to sit through the Battlestar Gallactica mini-series. The non-blogging husband enjoyed it for the most part, except he said parts were slow.
I, on the other hand, thought it was really really bad. I learned that in the future, people are stupid. No, really, they're more stupid than they are today, if you can imagine that. Which the writers managed to imagine. It's actually disappointing for me, because the main writer, Ronald D. Moore, worked on ST:TNG and did some good work there.
It wasn't even the kind of bad that had you laughing. I miss the old Galactica. I really do. Oh, and they didn't even have good eye candy.
Only cool thing: The new and improved Cylons. They were pretty freakin' awesome looking, baby.
Stay away from it. Seriously. Watch re-runs of the old series.

Godzilla had a cheese factor to it. Besides, you and I both know that *Armageddon* is the worst POS out there...:-)
It was mostly just the people and story was stupid. I'm not sure I feel like expanding on it. Heh. That *was* Starbuck in a female body. I was amused by that, actually.

This is pretty strong criticism coming from someone who liked Godzilla. :) But I digress... I admit that I too liked the original series a lot (even though I shudder when seeing those same cheezy episodes now). I'll rationalize it by saying that a lot of things are forgiveable when you're 8 years old.
But I didn't think that the new mini-series was that bad. Admittedly, there were some stupid plot moments (but no worse than the original series...) Was it the lack of eye candy (no Dirk Benedict-wannabe?) Were you horrified that they made Starbuck a cigar-smoker non-lesbian chick?

You don't have to expand on it-- I was just curious. You do, however, have to read Lileks this week. Too funny:
