no way

From the free metro newspaper this morning on the announcement of Greenspan's replacement.

"Bernanke, a plain-speaking former economics professor..."

Nope. That kind of animal does not exist.

Clue-ments:

Brad DeLong says some good things about him.

It appears all the things the rights are saying to make him look good, are wrong.

He might be better than Greenspan, he can hardly be worse.

Terry - Well, that's nice...but I still contend you can't use the term "plain-speaking" and "economist" in the same sentence.....:-) no way.

And Greenspan is the master at the doublespeak...good heavens....

Oh, phoo. Now you're just falling prey to anti-intellectual stereotyping. Brad DeLong, Paul Krugman, Max Sawicky, and the blogger commonly known as Atrios are all perfectly plain-speaking most of the time. The ability to speak and understand jargon doesn't have to impair the ability to speak plainly when required. Leave the glorification of grunting in monosyllables to the Bushies and their ilk, pretty please.

Ulrika - It was in jest. My recent intersections with Economics professors and economist friends has filtered my view of economists to the slightly negative side...

I'm sure there are definitely economists who are able to speak to a layman like me.

It was a joke, people! Where's the sense of humor?

Remember the Bloom County strip where Binkley's nightmare entails two economists having a "discussion" at the foot of his bed?
