switching to livejournal?
I've been thinking about moving to livejournal for quite awhile now. The biggest reason, for me, would be their fabulous commenting functionality with notifications and nesting. Also, no spam. One of the things about movable type is you have to get some plug-ins to help manage spam and you need to be vigilant. There is supposed to be a plug-in that does commenting notifications and a plug-in that will nest comments, also. However, it's just Yet Another Hack I'd have to manage. And I'm lazy.
There are many pros and cons to this proposition and I'd have to have a paid account in order to keep my cluefairy design (free accounts do not allow for customization).
Pros to moving to LJ:
1. No spam
2. Commenting functionality
3. Private posts (although I'm not sure if there's anything I'd post that would be private)
4. Communities
5. Ease of use
Cons:
1. No javascripting, so I'd lose my cute countdown. I love my countdown.
2. No ability to search for specific posts.
3. I've already paid for an MT license and support, now I have to pay for an LJ account also (although, dudes, it's cheap!)
4. Making time to create my style and did I mention I'm lazy?
5. Not as geeky/customizable as I'd probably like
My friends Kristin and jhimm moved from MT over to LJ and they seem happy with it. I just have to commit to purchasing the account in order to play around with customizing and seeing if I'd be happy with it....hmm.
What do you think?

Clue-ments:
well,
if you integrate LJ into your website,
you can still have javascript on your site.
just not in your LJ styles,
so,
your countdown wouldn't be on your LJ page,
but i don't know how many people
even look at my LJ page.
they read my entries either
via their own friends page or RSS.
i really don't think of my main LJ page
as something i expect to see a lot of traffic.
also,
the only real reason you -have- to pay for LJ
is to get style customizations,
and at this point,
i've switched to one of the defaults.
you get more icons,
more voice posts and stuff,
but i really don't even use that stuff.
so,
if you want to use the free version,
see if you like it,
and then if you do,
buy an account to do the customization,
go for it.
but,
i think a free try before you buy
helps you sort out the pro/cons
with minimal risk.

I like LJ. As for the features, I don't really use any of them. That should come as no surprise to anyone as I am not much of an advanced blogger. I mainly write about things that irritate me and my FF team (Which is on a 4 game winning streak).

Another plus, you won't have to install any more MT upgrades.
Oh, and I won't get this message when I reply to two posts in a row:
"Your comment submission failed for the following reasons:
In an effort to curb malicious comment posting by abusive users, I've enabled a feature that requires a weblog commenter to wait a short amount of time before being able to post again. Please try to post your comment again in a short while. Thanks for your patience."

I don't know how much time you spend blogging, but it can become a huge time suck, and LJ makes that easier.
On the other hand, the image storage is nice (since you plan to pay for an account) and the features are there if you want them.
Me, I just treat it as a typewriter and that pretty much does the the job.

Well, I can't give advice since I've only used Blogger. I will say that I really like "Recent Clue-ments" section. The Blogger imitation of this feature is a poor substitute (it just lists the comments of the recent posts).
