What the hell is going on in Hollywood where the art of film editing has disappeared? Jeebus. King Kong, Superman Returns, X-MEN 3 and Pirates 2 are great examples where they didn't need to be as long as they were and could have been helped immensely with GOOD FILM EDITING. Action sequences that are far too long. The feeling that they've cut out some vital scenes that advance the plot or characterization.

STOP IT.

Not only was Pirates 2 way longer than it should have been, but it also was very confusing. I didn't walk away loving it. I walked away scratching my head and feeling like I'd been cheated. I will go and see the third one next year, I'm not that pissed off and there were amusing points. And no, I didn't go in with high expectations. It's a sequel, I know better. So that's not why I am unhappy with it. I am sure with the right tweaking they could have made it less confusing and not as long.

They are so caught up in the special effects and making sure they get their money's worth that they've forgotten how to make a good film.

I'm now worried about Spiderman 3 and some other action sequels coming out in the next year. Bleah.
