national parks and damn it was freezing waiting for the train this morning
In response to my survey many of you mentioned that you didn’t know that all of the options were national parks. Here’s your geography lesson for the day:
Yosemite – Always a national park
Carlsbad Caverns – Was a national monument until 1930 when it became a national park
Death Valley – Was a national monument until 1994 when it became a national park due to an increase of acreage through the Desert Protection Act of 1994
Everglades – Always a national park
Voyaguers (in MN) – Always a national park
Happy Friday!

Clue-ments:
Well, the Pacific Northwest is enjoying a very balmy fall due to a minor El Niño -- it was sorta too warm for wearing a jacket as I came in from the bus. They're expecting a high of 60º today. Definitely the most gloriously sunny fall I've seen here. Weirdly, the sunshine is even showing up on the weekends.
And I was right, Death Valley was still a National Monument the last time I visited, since that would have been in the late '70s. I'm not that big a fan of deserts, personally.

Ulrika - The sunshine continues into the weekend? Damn, that's awesome. :-)
I'm not a big fan of deserts, either. Gimme mountains and oceans.
