help desks suck part ii
My ability to connect to a network other than work using my work laptop at home is still not fixed. I had a brief moment where it did after I called the help desk, but it's back to being broken. *sigh* Which means if I work from home I can only do webmail on my Mac. Which is teh suck.
I hate that I have to explain to the help desk that NO IT IS NOT MY HOME NETWORK AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO GO TO PANERA BREAD OR STARBUCKS TO PROVE TO YOU THERE IS SOMETHING WONKY ON MY LAPTOP AND NOT MY HOME NETWORK.
The guy is coming up this afternoon to look at my machine. I hope that it gets fixed. *crossing fingers*

Clue-ments:
help desks are this horrible intersection
between the stupidity of the public
and the apathy of the under employed.

jhimm - dude, that's exactly it. What I really hate is I know the minute they hear the words "home network" their brains turn off and they don't want to deal with it. I'd be more than willing to take a quiz at that point to prove I know what I'm talking about so that they'd help me. I mean, shit, I called them on December 11 and they are just now getting back to me.

the problem is,
as soon as they know
that you think you know what you're talking about
(even if you actually do)
they check the "trouble" box on your account
and then ignore you even more vigorously.
