more movies...
I saw Last King of Scotland and Monster House (thoughts behind the extended entry) yesterday before the Super Bowl. (go see Last King of Scotland).
While Prince's performance was sucky, you know, it was pouring rain out and it's got to suck to do a show when it's pouring rain out. So, I don't know if his performance would have been better with clear skies or not, but I give him props for doing it. But it was still lame. As were the commercials. I officially declare that anybody who says "I only watch the super bowl for the commericals" from now on is lame. I think I liked two of them and I think one of them was the Oprah/Dave thing.
Anyway. Last King of Scotland is fantastic. What a good movie. I've always liked Forest Whitaker and I still do. His performance is superb and I hope he wins the Oscar. He deserved the golden globe. Let's see him recognized for a fantastic performance.
Monster House was cute (and quite dark for a kids movie) and I tried very hard to keep my Pixar Prejudice(tm) at bay, but in the end I found it a little slow. There are some funny bits and overall it was not a waste of time.

I have never lilke the "I only wqatch for the commercials". I think that the focus on the ads takes away from the game. It has become such a big deal, that I no longer go to SB parties because of it.
The last SB party I was at went something like this: Everyone was yapping away, loudly, durring the game while I was actually trying to watch it. Then when the ads came on, everyone had to be very quite so that we could watch thoes. When the game was back on, we all had to talk about the ads. I was there not to watch commercial, but to watch football. SO if you want to actually watch the game, you need to do it without anyone else arround.
