choices choices
While I wouldn't have minded going to some of the new Natick mall opening stuff this weekend (Can you say Apple store t-shirt with "Natick" on it? *sigh*), I think I prefer being in The Netherlands. :-)
We went out to dinner at a Thai restaurant in Amsterdam with some co-workers Thursday night. We tried something I'd never even heard of but it was awesome: steamed chicken curry. Steamed. I'm not even sure how to describe it except that it was gooood.
We are actually staying in the town of Utrecht which is about 40 or so minutes from Amsterdam. It's a lovely town. We plan on wandering around tomorrow and what's also awesome is that it's uitfeest which is an end of summer music festival held every year in Utrecht. We are taking the train into Amsterdam for sightseeing today.
Last night we went to a traditional Dutch pancake place (basically they're like crepes but thicker) along the canal. Think San Antonio river walk with tables right at the edge of the water. A few more inches and our chairs would have been in the drink. Anyway, nbh ordered an apple and bacon pancake. It was good. I was going to order the banana and cheese pancake but then chickened out.
Anyway, off to explore Amsterdam.....

Clue-ments:
Make sure you try some Indonesian food while there. I can't recall the name of a specific place, but there are some good ones to the East of Leidsplein, I think.
Also have a saucijsebrodt and croquet met brodt in any of the train stations or on the street.

Iwan - When we were in Amsterdam yesterday we stopped to eat at a pancake house I like. And then we didn't eat again until we had cheese and bread at a friend's house. He and his boyfriend (who's a Kiwi) told us all about New Zealand and where to visit, etc. Today we drove out to Gouda and ate some cheese soup and fries for lunch and now we're hanging out in the hotel room until meeting up with chris's father's family friend for dinner at some sort of upscale restaurant. SO, the upshot is we'll be finally eating Indonesian tomorrow night in Utrecht at a restaurant highly recommended by a co-worker.

Yes they do. Possibly the one of the best bar foods invented.

Iwan - I think I am going to learn how to make bitterballen. It may be a moral imperative.
