* Nice to know that being away from the gym for 2.5 weeks I can remember my lock combination
* Mortified by a reply all e-mail sent to friends. Have lost sense of humor about it because of mortification. Because of this, cannot tell if people's responses are jokes or serious. Hopefully this will clear by the end of the day.
* Heard a radio recruitment ad yesterday for the Free Mason's. Not something I would think they'd do. Advertise. Maybe the younger generation doesn't care about this stuff anymore?
* Conversation on the subway the other day:
Female (looking snazzy and business-like): "Excuse me?"
Me: "yes?"
F: "Would you like this (shows me a card with Jesus on it and some inspirational words, etc.)?"
Me: "No thanks."
F: "Are you sure? It could really help."
Me: "I tried christianity, it didn't help. Thanks, tho."
F: "Do you know someone you could give this to who needs help?"
Me: "I'm very sorry, but I don't proselytize for strangers."
F: *blink* "ok." *moving away from me*

Clue-ments:

Jenn,

Yeah, the Masons are having a bit of a fall off in membership as they- How shall I put this? Oh yes, - die.

I like the "I don't proselytize for strangers."

Fritz.

Fritz - I would have thought with all the passing to the next generation stuff that the mason's do, they'd be able to keep it going. But when your org's representation to many is as a fez wearing old fart, guess it's kind of hard to engage the youngsters. Even though the mason's are a lot more than that image.

Thanks. I thought the line was particularly inspired.....

RE Masons: Interesting because I thought that a mason was prohibited from recruiting. They could talk to you if you asked them, but they couldn't actively recruit.

RE email: I came so very very close to sending a (funny) response, but I called it off at the last moment. :-)

Poz - I lived with a guy who was asked to be a free mason, but I'm not sure if he approached his friend or or they did, tho. The thing that is weird, is my understanding is that you have to be sponsored by a member, so if you call an 800 number....how does that then fit into sponsorship??

re email: heh.....that would have been fine. sense of humor returned quickly. i think the mortification was mostly that i did something so stupid like reply all. haha.
