trick or treating question
If you buy snack size candy bars, do you give out one or two? Do you start with two and then go to one when you run low? Or do you just start with one?

stress
I need to reduce stress in my life. I'm bottling up way too much of the crap going on at work. It'll probably cause me to have a heart attack. I'm just not having fun at work right now. And the thing is, that's when you should keep your sense of humor and stuff, yanno? Maybe I should take up meditation.

these headlines amuse me
And they don't mean this kind of mule.
Hehe. They said creamed.

red sox fans
Q: How many Red Sox fans can you fit on the commuter rail?
A: A shitload.
On the train home right now and the parade for the Sox just ended. It is fun seeing everyone hyped, tho (I don't want to know why there were two fans carrying a mannequin through the train car).

attention managers
When a team works hard on a system and beats all the timelines out of the water for you, the least you could do is respond with a thanks and congrats to the email notifying you said system is now "live".
Not a word from asshat. And I know he was in the office today, too.

job change?
Am I ready to take a new opportunity at my company? Am I ready to go back into an official IT organization as opposed to lucking out and doing IT stuff but not being in IT? Does it matter? How will I handle working for someone new when I heart my current boss? Altho, I'd only be one layer removed from my current boss if I did this, so, really, that doesn't seem too bad. Lots to think about.

tucker carlson is an asshat
I love saying that. It's so true.
In the meantime, more often than not, Bill Maher gets things right:

problem solved
I work with someone new who drives me batshit insane. At 8a.m. yesterday I had already read an email of theirs that was making my blood pressure rise. I decided it was time to do the nuclear option: Create a rule so that when email from them comes into my inbox it gets shuttled over to an offline folder.
Then I don't have to deal with them cluttering up my inbox and can review their emails in my own time and way.
Day 2 and it's already been fruitful. They have only managed to annoy me twice cause they came by my desk, instead of sending email.

make.it.stop.
"If the U.S. is going to disobey the obligations we've undertaken under the Vienna Convention, then other countries could retaliate," Gzesh said. "Bush is following the treaty."
and
"Medellin's right to seek legal advice from Mexican diplomats is protected by the 1963 Vienna Convention, an international treaty that President Bush must follow under the U.S. Constitution, "
*blink*
When did Bush start giving a rats ass about the Constitution? And what about the Geneva Convention? Surely these comments are a joke?

public transportation....
Scene: Typing away in Word on commuter rail.
Guy Next To Me (GNTM): "is that the comment feature in word?"
Me: "yeah"
GNTM: 'I'm pretty good at excel. I can freeze panes and hide columns."
Me: *blink*
Me: *blink*
Me: "Yeah, those are some pretty neat features in excel. hey, if I have time after i finish working on this document we can discuss it." (never planning on finishing during the train ride)
GNTM: "oh sorry to bother you"
You have to understand why I *blinked*. To me, freezing panes and hiding columns is akin someone saying to a 15 year veteran software developer "I'm pretty good at coding. I can write HelloWorld."
