need a "running" goal
I think I need to find another 5k to run (re: jog). It really kept me motivated last year to aim for a 5k. Course, a horrible *cough* thing happened and I had to go to Amsterdam and Paris instead of participating, but it definitely was nice having something to aim for. Whee!

kids learning html
Nbh comes out of the office and says, "It's a little weird. A asked me a question in chat."
Me: "I like pie!" (this refers to a previous chat message A sent nbh a few days ago)
Nbh: "It was an HTML question"
Me: "A?"
Nbh: "Yeah, it's pretty weird. She's becoming a young adult. I thought it was K logging on with A's chat name, but confirmed it was her. Besides, it was something so basic it couldn't have been K."
a few minutes later....
Me: "Is she creating a Hannah Montana fan site?"
Nbh: "No, it mentioned cow farts."
*laughter*
Me: "Something related to the environment, I take it?"
Nbh: "Yeah, looked like some sort of school project. Instead of flatulence, she used the word fart."
Me: "I love it."
See, "A" is our friend K's 10 year old daughter. Nbh has known her all of her life, I've known her for however long I've known nbh (soon to be 10 years). We're just having to adjust that she's getting more sophisticated in the topics we'll be able to converse with her about. It's kinda cool.
Update: I talked with A's father and apparently it's not a school project. She decided she wanted to learn html. Apparently he taught her if/then statements a few weeks ago. Cool.

heath ledger is dead
Y texted me on the way home saying Heath Ledger had died. The group of us started a texting storm. I jokingly suggested we have a "wake" and watch "10 Things I Hate About You". It's one of my fav movies, Y also loves it and owns it like I do. C has never seen it. Suddenly everyone is like, "Yeah, we totally should do that." *blink* Okay, why not?
I'm not going to do the whole "promising career, blah blah blah" stuff the MSM is already on overdrive about. And they'll do it again when The Dark Knight is released.
He was very talented. I liked him and he was easy on the eyes. Oh well.

those wacky germans
The site is in German, but the gist is that they put a digital camera around their cat's neck and it snaps a photo every 15 seconds. Maybe we need to do this to Otto so we know what he's up to while he hangs out upstairs.

this is what i hate
When someone wants to talk to me about our working relationship (there's friction between me and a co-worker right now) and they start off with, "You and I are a lot alike...." that f*king irritates me.
I can buy into the concept that if there's butting of heads it can be that we're too much alike. But I also believe that it can be because we're nothing alike. Regardless, to me, it's an issue by issue basis and I hate this particular generalization. I don't find it useful. It doesn't matter if we're too much alike or not. Give me examples of what I'm doing you don't like. That's what you're trying to convey to me anyway. If you want me to be responsive to you, don't try this approach.
Oh, and I especially hate this approach when I don't even like you.
